How to change server in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

Only for Realms: the Realm owner opens Play, then Realms, selects the Realm, then Settings, Manage Realm, the Advanced tab, and picks a server region preference. Options are automatic by the first player to join, automatic by the owner's connection, or a specific region. Mojang treats every choice as a preference and may host the Realm in the next best region.

Where the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition servers are

Bedrock has three ways to play together: a friend hosts the world, you join a Realm (a Mojang-run dedicated server), or you join a separate server. The region list here covers Realms only. Mojang names regions by state or country, not by city. A friend-hosted world runs on the host's device, and each third party server picks its own location.

Where Mojang Studios gives no city, the table says not published. An area folded onto a test point never borrows that test point's city.

What Mojang Studios says about ping

Mojang says a Realm server closer to you gives lower network latency, and that picking a region near you and your friends can help reduce lag. It gives no millisecond figures.

Our test reads its own bands next to that: Excellent under 40 ms, Good 40 to under 80 ms, Playable 80 to under 130 ms, Poor 130 ms and above. These are our lines, not Mojang Studios'.

What our test reads for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

  • The result reads Minecraft: Bedrock Edition's own 12 measured areas. Pick the region you play on, or the test takes the best one by steadiness, then by time.
  • Modes that a player hosts run on that player's device. The test speaks to the server modes only.
  • The North America Central test point is in Ohio. Mojang Studios gives no city for this area.
  • The Middle East (Gulf) test point is in UAE. Mojang Studios gives no city for this area.
  • AWS reports its UAE region as damaged, so treat Gulf figures with care.

What is a good ping in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition?
Mojang says a Realm server closer to you gives lower network latency, and that picking a region near you and your friends can help reduce lag. It gives no millisecond figures. Our own bands, which are not Mojang Studios': Excellent under 40 ms, Good 40 to under 80 ms, Playable 80 to under 130 ms, Poor 130 ms and above.
Does the test measure the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition servers themselves?
No. It times public test points in 12 of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition's 12 areas, from your browser. That shows network distance in tens of milliseconds; the number Minecraft: Bedrock Edition shows you decides.
