How to see your ping in Rocket League

Your ping shows on the scoreboard. On PC you can add a Network graph under Settings > Interface > Performance Graphs, which shows latency, packet loss and input buffer. Ticking Connection Quality Indicators in the Interface tab shows warnings for high latency, latency variation, packet loss and server health during a match.

How to change server in Rocket League

For Casual and Competitive, choose Play, then Casual or Competitive, then the Regions button at the top right, and pick a region or Recommended. Private matches have the same choice when you create one. The tournament region sits under Settings > Gameplay > Tournament Schedule Region and can only change once every 24 hours.

Where the Rocket League servers are

Rocket League names 12 regions but not the cities its servers run in. Recommended picks the closest region for you. Since the March 2025 update (v2.49), the game pings each data center inside your chosen region instead of a single server.

What Psyonix says about ping

Psyonix says to play on the region closest to you, since far regions can bring lag and packet loss. In its network graph guide it says a latency above 100 ms, or a value that jumps around, may come from your local connection or routing.

Our test reads its own bands next to that: Excellent under 40 ms, Good 40 to under 80 ms, Playable 80 to under 130 ms, Poor 130 ms and above. These are our lines, not Psyonix's.

What our test reads for Rocket League

  • The result reads Rocket League's own 11 measured areas. Pick the region you play on, or the test takes the best one by steadiness, then by time.
  • The North America Central test point is in Ohio. Psyonix gives no city for US-Central.
  • The South Africa test point is in Cape Town. Psyonix gives no city for South Africa.
  • The Middle East (Gulf) test point is in UAE. Psyonix gives no city for Middle East.
  • AWS reports its UAE region as damaged, so treat Gulf figures with care.

Psyonix lists 12 locations: US-East, US-Central, US-West, Europe, Asia-SE Mainland, Asian-SE Maritime and 6 more. The table on this page shows each one with the test point we time for it.
Can you pick your server in Rocket League?
Yes. The game picks one for you, and you can change it. The steps are under "How to change server" on this page.
What is a good ping in Rocket League?
Psyonix says to play on the region closest to you, since far regions can bring lag and packet loss. In its network graph guide it says a latency above 100 ms, or a value that jumps around, may come from your local connection or routing. Our own bands, which are not Psyonix's: Excellent under 40 ms, Good 40 to under 80 ms, Playable 80 to under 130 ms, Poor 130 ms and above.
Does the test measure the Rocket League servers themselves?
No. It times public test points in 11 of Rocket League's 11 areas, from your browser. That shows network distance in tens of milliseconds; the number Rocket League shows you decides.
Where can you see if the Rocket League servers are down?
On Psyonix's status page.
