How to see your ping in League of Legends
Riot Games does not document this.
How to change server in League of Legends
Each Riot account belongs to one League of Legends region, picked the first time you start the game; the login screen cog shows it. To play elsewhere you log in with an account on that region, or buy an account transfer (2600 RP one way, 90 day cooldown, some routes such as into Korea, Russia or Brazil are blocked).
Where the League of Legends servers are
Riot lists League regions by name but does not publish the data center city for any of them. Each account plays on one region and you only play with people on that region, so picking a region far from home adds latency for every match.

Where Riot Games gives no city, the table says not published. An area folded onto a test point never borrows that test point's city.
What Riot Games says about ping
Riot says lower latency is better, that distance to its game servers is the biggest factor in latency on a working connection, and that jitter should sit as close to 0 ms as possible. It also asks players not to use a VPN or proxy to reach League servers.
Our test reads its own bands next to that: Excellent under 40 ms, Good 40 to under 80 ms, Playable 80 to under 130 ms, Poor 130 ms and above. These are our lines, not Riot Games'.
What our test reads for League of Legends
- The result reads League of Legends' own 11 measured areas. Pick the region you play on, or the test takes the best one by steadiness, then by time.
- Your account's region decides which servers you can use. Pick it under Region you play on, or the result assumes you can play on the best area.
- Russia, Turkey (Istanbul) and Latin America South have no test point yet, so the test cannot read them.
- The North America Central test point is in Ohio. Riot Games gives no city for this area.
- The Middle East (Gulf) test point is in UAE. Riot Games gives no city for this area.
- AWS reports its UAE region as damaged, so treat Gulf figures with care.
Fixes that fit your League of Legends result
- Ethernet or Wi-Fi, when the spread is high or requests go missing.
- 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, when you play on Wi-Fi.
- Background downloads, when the spread jumps while others use the line.
- Router QoS, when the home line is full.
- When the route is the problem, when the result reads far from the servers.
